Built in 1850, the old Macon County jail now is home to the Franklin Gem & Mineral Museum. Eight rooms of gem and mineral displays have themes of local Macon county, from each USA state, fluorescent minerals, and international. Couple hours needed to just see everything.

Free admission - the local club members host the display

Monday through Friday: Noon - 4 pm
Saturday: 11 am - 3 pm and 6 pm - 9 pm
