This Obelisk is dedicated to Johann Georg Büsch (1728 - 1800), a citizen of Hamburg who established the Academy of Trade in Hamburg.
In his role as pedagogue some of Hamburg's well-knownst merchants were his students, like Georg Heinrich Sieveking, Johann Michael Hudtwalcker or Martin Johann Jenisch.
