The sign is about the migrating hawks in the area. It is interesting stuff. For instance, did you know hawks rely on thermals or heated air streams to conserve energy and get around? Very cool stuff! Using updrafts as a means for propulsion, Hawks can achieve speeds from 40 to 60 mph.
The type of hawk that comes here is the red-tailed hawk and one of the main reasons they come here is for the thermals, currents and updrafts. Although the migrate some actually stay here through winter. On my many visits to the park, I have seem the swooping and soaring about. They are quite graceful and this spot is a perfect vista for watching them.
There is a parking lot available for this look-out point. Once you park, it is a short walk. It is very, very steep as this is a rocky and mountainous region. Be careful but bring a camera.
