This sundial is typical of sundials crafted by Joseph Auvray, Atelier Acacia. It is made from square tiles of glazed lava. The dial faces south, declining east 45.3°. The Atelier Acacia trade mark is seen in the lower right corner of the sundial.

The dial is visible from the main road through town and it encouraged us to stop, explore and buy groceries.

Veynes was once the center of solar energy development in France as the claim more sunshine hours that other parts of France. However it was cloudy and drizzling when we visited.
