Paseo Vista Recreational Area is a new park for Chandler, Arizona. Its an unusual park in that it is built on top of a landfill. Because of that, there is a running theme throughout this park of recycled trash. As you drive up to the top of the landfill, known locally as Mount Chandler, the highest point in the City of Chandler, you see this quirky fun sea monster made from various bits of junk.

Sea monsters are of course a feared creature from centuries of legends. Or if you are old enough, part of a favorite children's tv show, Cecil the Sea Serpent. This sea monster is made from large recycled tires, painted to resemble stripes, with head and tail made from rusty wheel barrows. Spikes, chains and unidentifiable junk complete the sculpture.
