This is a carboniferous limestone age rock and is free to explore; the Great Orme as a whole is free to roam along the numerous pathways. There are limestone outcrops and natural exposures to investigate. Old quarry faces are commonplace with Corals and Brachiopods visible.

The location shown is near the summit car park and is just beyond and below the area where the pebbles are arranged on the grass with the names of people displayed. Here there are exposed limestone sides with scree worth investigating. Blocks of rock have fallen from the rock face and these are covered in very large brachiopod casts and moulds. Larger pieces should not be disturbed, but smaller pieces can be collected.

As this is an old quarry site the fossils are visible and attempts to rock-hound can be seen all around you.

There are numerous other locations on the Great Orme to look for fossils including glacial erratics. The visitor centre on the summit has further information.
