In New Orleans, in the financial sector of the city, in a small park known as Lafayette Square, is a stone marker set up by the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey.
This marker has the following text on the south face:

This marker is listed in the National Geodetic Survey database with a PID of AU1063. In the description, it mentions that it is an 'astro pier' marble monument about 3 ft high. See www.geocaching.com/mark for more information about the marker.
The monument should not be hard to find once you are in the park, which is a small city block in size. The monument is east of the Henry Clay statue.
It's condition is a little worn and pitted, but letters are still readable.
