Thais tend to have good libraries, even in small out of the way places. The public library for the small town of Tha-Tum is no exception. The library is two stories high, has a wide selection of books, including a number in English, magazines, computers, and every sign of being actively used.
The strange part of my brief visit to the town and library (mid-day on a Friday), is that when I visited the library, while the doors were open (literally, open), there were no staff or people present. The library was entirely vacant of humans! I am at a loss to explain this.
