This is the site of the first iron blast furnace to be operated in Australia.

This site is located in Mittagong, NSW, Australia. This blast furnace was located here due to the availability of iron ore. Unfortunately the iron works was not a success and was closed. But the site is credited with providing the foundation for successful ironmaking in Australia.
