A built for Admiral J Stratton in 1789 close to the site of a former brew house. Local legend has it that it was built so that the Admiral could view ships on the Thames, but it is more likely, with a height of only 155 feet, that it was built for the owner to admire the local landscape or as an astronomical observatory.

The tower has several stories with an arcaded story half way up and a battlemented top. Lower stages are octagonal with upper stages round. Construction is of brick, some of it vitrified from the reuse of bricks from the brew house.
