The St. Edwards parish was founded in 1883 to serve the growing German population in Little Rock. The parish's first church building was dedicated August 26, 1885. The congregation soon outgrew its original building. On November 10, 1901 the cornerstone for the current church building was laid and the building was completed and dedicated July 4, 1905. The Gothic Revival style church as designed by the prolific Little Rock architect, Charles L. Thompson. The church features main altar crafted in Germany with hand-carved oak and onyx-inlay. The Gothic Revival style is evident in the church's pointed arches, the soaring lines and the slender columns. The church continues to serve its congregation which has evolved over the years and now serves a large Hispanic population.
