The Kramer School was built in 1895. The school was built in a Romanesque Revival style and was named for Frederick W. Kramer, the first president of the Little Rock School District Board of Directors. When built the building had a tall bell tower which was removed in the early 1950s when it became unstable. The school closed in 1978 and remained vacant and deteriorating for many years. In the late 1990s the building was renovated and converted to artist lofts for which purpose it continues to serve.
