Tower, Minnesota and the other local cities and towns in northern Minnesota often have the lowest recorded temperature of the day, or year for that matter. This cute cut out is a parka clothed face outdoors by the ice fising on Feb. 2, 1996, when the actual recorded temperature was -60F, Sixty below zero. That isn't the wind chill that is the actual temperature. In fact, this holds the record for Minnesota low temperatures.
The cutout is located at the historic Tower Train Museum. The Museum is housed in the near original train depot and is a must stop for the entire family. The museum is free and has hundreds of artifacts. There are also real steam engine, caboose and passenger cars that have been lovingly restored and that are available to walk through. Also nearby is a playground, homesteaders cabin, McKinley memorial and grassy areas to just take a breather, nice pullover area.
