In Baton Rouge, in a strip mall across the street from a Walmart complex, is the Tex-Mex restaurant Casa Maria, at the southern end of the mall. This restaurant is part of a four restaurant enterprise in the Baton Rouge metropolitan area.
To get there, from I-10 to College Drive, then follow College Drive south (away from the highway) for about a half mile to the intersection with the entrance to Walmart on the right and an entrance to a strip mall on the left. Take the left, and turn right and run along the strip mall to the end and the restaurant on the left.
This place has all the 'pieces' to be called a Tex-Mex restaurant: fajitas, Margaritas, and Spanish speaking staff.
The menu has many items that you would typically find in a Tex-Mex restaurant: burritos, chimichangas, and tacos. One of the differences, though, is that seafood, especially Gulf shrimp and crawfish, is listed in several dishes. I had the seafood burrito, and it was tasty, though a bit 'saucy.' Also, the dishes may be more Mexican as they seem to be more spicy than hot.
