From a Geocache called
Mile Marker 25 Reborn:
In 1931 cement markers, where placed every mile along the highways as a indicator to settlers and travellers of how far they had come, or how far they have yet to go. These markers started with Mile Zero which was located at the main post office in Vancouver, and carried from there along Kingsway and across the Fraser River through Surrey, Langley and Aldergrove following the Fraser Hwy. Over time and due to modern development most of these mile markers were lost. Only a few of the originals remain out in Langley and Aldergrove.
At one time they were painted yellow but there is no remains of paint on any of the still present markers. Caution should be exercised when visiting this waymark as it is located along a busy road. There is room to park but pull well off the road.
