While traveling west of Cortez, Colorado, one would normally find the high-desert scrub plants common to this area. Guy Drew Vineyards has carved out a little oasis of grapes with careful irrigation to create this winery.

Most of the wines produced are the single-grape table wines you typically find at most smaller wineries. However, I think the winemaker has the most fun with the blends. The Metate is the winery's signature blend, but the 2007 does not taste like the 2006 - nor was it intended to. It would be interesting for frequent visitors to compare the Metate over time.
