This house was built in Victorian Gothic style with its steeply pitched gable roofs and highly decorated bargeboards. It is said to have come from Parawai and moved to its present site to serve as a residence for the first Stationmaster of the Shortland Railway Station. In 1906 the building was purchased by the Thames Wesleyan Trust to use as a manse. It was sold in 1946 and has remained in private ownership ever since.
