The IKEA in Stoughton is one of the only two IKEAs located in New England (the other New England store is located in New Haven, CT). The store opened in 2005 (construction began in late 2004). During the first weekend that the store was open, so many people were trying to get to the store that traffic was backed up for several miles on nearby Route 24.
Today the store is a popular destination for shoppers, offering a typical huge assortment of home furnishings. There is a large parking lot located under the store, with additional overflow parking nearby.
