The Buckeye Lake Yacht Club was started in April of 1906, when forty or so people met to create the club
Buckeye Lake is man-made and was originally built to serve the Ohio-Erie canal. As the canal was replaced with railroads, people began to recognize that Buckeye Lake needed to change as well.
First, an amusement park was built along the lake. The Buckeye Lake Park was built in the early 1900's and remained until the 1960's. It had roller coasters, a swimming pool, and several ballrooms which hosted performers such as Guy Lombardo, Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, and Frank Sinatra.
Along side the amusement park was built the Buckeye Lake Yacht Club. Various races, shows, events, and gatherings have been held here. The club is still in existence and is still a very active community. The clubhouse was built in 1912, and is situated on its own island. There doesn't appear to be a ramp directly at the club, but there is a ramp with ample parking just a few hundred feet away at Buckeye Lake State Park.
