This racetrack has a half mile oval and was operated primarily from 1965 to 1995; today it is maintained by the local saddle club and used for special events and races. At one time it held the record in Colorado for having the most longest race ticket per year.
Well known jockey Donald Pettinger, who rode thoroughbreds, was a local who started here and later rode in the 1989 Kentucky Derby.
