In May, 1939, Myrtle (Molly) Kool from Alma, N.B. became the First Woman Sea Captain in North America and second in the World. This monument is close to the docks in Alma, New Brunswick.

The first in the World was a woman from Russia who was became a Sea Captain just a few months before Molly.

Myrtle (Molly) Kool, daughter of Capt. Paul and Myrtle Kool,
was the First Woman SeaCaptian in North America and
Second in the World
