The camping area is receiving a make-over by the local people, Kaitiakitanga Program Team and Department of Conservation (DOC) and now provides a new visitor shelter with water and benches. Toilet facilities are already in place. Two special wooden platforms have been constructed, overhanging the Whirinaki River, to allow fishing by people in Wheelchairs. These are easily accessible by wheelchair from the flat camping area along metal tracks. The Whirinaki River provides excellent trout fishing in season and these facilities will be welcomed by disabled people who are now able to enjoy this activity in this beautiful remote DOC camping spot.
Accessibility Activity: Trout fishing from riverside platforms for wheelchairs.

Time available: Available at all times.

Group providing the activity: Kaitiakitanga Program Team and Department of Conservation (DOC)
