Known first as the Lathrop Building, and later the 4th Ave. Theater, the construction of this building began in 1941. There was a halt during World War II, and completed in 1947. The building sits sits along the main street of downtown Anchorage.

This theater has 960 seats, and until the 1980's was used for its intended purpose. There were also facilities for radio and television stations, a restaurant and apartments which were added in 1959-1960.
The building survived the 1964 earthquake that dropped 4th Street almost 10 feet and has been renovated to be used as a meeting place for the Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau. On 5 Oct 1982, this building was added to the National Register of Historic Places - as listed as Waymark WM6ATT.
