Talkeetna Ranger Station is home to Denali National Park's Climbing Rangers. It is also the first and last stop climbers make when climbing Mt. McKinley or Mt. Foraker. In order to attempt a summit of either mountain, all cimbers must register, pay an additional fee, attend a mandatory hour briefing, and go through a complete check list of their supplies with an experienced park service climber.

If you're not attempting to make any summit climb, go ahead and enjoy the movie that is shown in the lobby and read through some of the books available.

The most current statistics of climbers on the mountain, those signed in and out of the mountain, successful summits and percentage of success is also posted and updated daily.

The center also offers general park information, climbing information for the Alaska Range, summer interpretive programs, and a bookstore. There is also a US National Park Passport cancellation station located here.
