The Forrest Highway extends from the end of the Kwinana Freeway to north of Bunbury. The 70km stretch of road and the addition to the existing Freeway has meant the trip from Perth to Bunbury is much quicker and safer. There is only one Rest Area along the way. It is nowhere near as extensive as other rest areas, however there is plenty of room for expansion. the restrooms are very clean and, obviously, very new.
Highway Number: Route 2 - Forrest Highway
Common Name for the Highway: Forrest Highway
Highway Access Direction: North
Rest Area Name: Forrest Highway Rest Area
Facilities: The Forrest Highway opened in September 2009. At present this is the only set of amenities along the 70km stretch of road. The facilities at this time are limited to two sets of picnic tables and a very good set of rest rooms. It will be interesting to see how this changes over time. Hopefully visitors of this waymark can update this information in their logs.
There is an identical set of facilities across the road for the south bound traffic.
Services: The are no vending machines or fast food outlets. However when I visited on a weekend, someone was set up to sell hot dogs.
Special Features: There is a traditional cache here owned by Richlink. They have placed another for the the southbound drivers on the other side of the road.
WiFi: no
