JOSÉ FRANCO’S MODEL VILLAGE
At the village of Sobreiro, halfway between Mafra and Ericeira, José Franco recreates the customs from the people residing in the municipality. You must stop in this model “village”, which had become one of the most renowned “villages” of the world.
Seven decades working on the clay. José Franco didn’t forget his village’s old elementary school and he recreated with accuracy his old classroom, with the small wooden desks, the majestic teacher’s bookcase and the slate. If we come up to the dentist-barber shop, we can see a costumer who gets a shave and not very far from there is located the grocery of granny Helena, who serves a glass of wine… all these ambiences invite us to travel in the time!
