The inscription states..."First Hydrographical Survey. Port Leschenault was visited in Decemeber 1841 by the officers of the Royal Navy Ship 'HMS Beagle" with John Lort Stokes as Commander for the first chart of Koombanah Bay. The approximate position of the first peg was marked near here by surveying students of the South West College of TAFE in May 1987. Bunbury Joint Heritage Group Plaque donated by Bunbury Port Authority"
