It was carved in an unique block of stone by Lino Bueno (1848 - 1935) on his spare time and took 21 years to complete.

He began in 1907 to carve it in the rock given by the council, since he couldn't afford to rent a house. By 1915, he had enough space to move in and shelter his family (wife and fifteen children).

He continued carving, making a double room, an high ceiling kitchen with fireplace, a pantry, and even a stable for animals. The finishing touch was in the form of shelves, cabinets, stairs, balconies and a long list of details that can be witnessed by visiting this unique structure, almost every day, guided by one of Lino's five grandchildren.

He finished the house in 1928, being visited by the King Alfonso XII, accompanied by Queen Victoria Eugenia, the head of government Primo de Rivera and other senior leaders of the state, granting him a merit badge given by the Ministry of Labour one year later in 1929. During the civil war, the stone house served as a refuge for the villagers.

Lino died digging what was going to be a new room, when he was eighty years old.
