At exit 726 of I-5 in California, the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) can be accessed for hiking North to Oregon (208 miles), Washington (638 miles), Canada (1138 miles) or South to Mexico (1412 miles).

Here hikers can access the city of Dunsmuir, 4 miles to the north for supplies. This section of the PCT goes through Castle Crags State Park and the picnic table area makes for a nice stop along the trail.

As the crow flies the distance between Mexico and Canada is just over 1,000 miles. The PCT is two and a half times that.
