Natural lava-formed swimming pool and bay west of the main town of Espargos and approximately 6km north of the porto of Palmeira. When the sun is just right, you can also see the “Blue eye” formed when the light shines into the cave. When the swell is big watch the power of the waves as they slam into the cliff, sending plumes of spray high into the air.
Take EXTRA care while going into the cave. It should be only done by experts and not by the casual and unprepared tourist.
