Rare double pen type barn, (for south Louisiana) found mainly in north and western Louisiana, and other parts of the world. The Stoker Barn was moved from Sabine Parish (County) which is located on the Louisiana/Texas Border. The barn has become part of the Burden Plantation, which is known as the LSU Rural Life Museum. Great place to visit, located in the center of Baton Rouge, a viit here takes one back to the 1800's to a working southern Louisiana plantation. This barn is located directly next to the entrance to the museum grounds. It is really unique for the area, with the climate and termites, barns rarely survive any long periods of time.

There is a small plaque located on the barn, which states
STOCKER BARN
circa 1845
Riley Stocer built this log barn on his family farm near Fort Jessup in Sabine Parish, Louisiana where it was in use for over 150 years. Architecturally it is described as a double pen structure with an open passage in the center. This type of barn was commonly found throughout northern Louisiana. Originally hay was stored in one crib and corn in the other. Mules and horses were stabled within the seven stalls.
It then lists the donator and restoration funder.
