Tin Man by Mike Barrows is based on Tin Woodman a character in the fictional Land of Oz created by American author L. Frank Baum. Baum's Tin Woodman first appeared in his classic 1900 book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and reappeared in many other Oz books. In late 19th century America, men made out of various tin pieces were used in advertising and political cartoons. Baum, who was editing a magazine on decorating shop windows when he wrote The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, was reportedly inspired to invent the Tin Woodman by a figure he had built out of metal parts for a shop display.

    Legacy Emanuel Children's Garden
The Children's Garden at Legacy Emanual Children's Hospital is very easy to visit. There is plenty of parking near the hospital. If you use the parking coordinates suggested here (N 45.544 W 122.669), then the most obvious entrance will be near at the "turn around." You might see several taxis picking up and dropping off patients and visitors. If you enter through these doors, turn right at the reception desk and follow the beautiful and highly polished brown granite tiled floors until you find the garden. You will be able to see it through the windows. The garden is in an atrium, so if it's raining, you will get wet. It's a very small but lovely place with lots to see and photograph; plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the garden; and lots of visitors passing through.
