This balanced rock is located in the Wrentham State Forest and can be reached from Madison Street. There is a street nearby called Tilting Rock Road but I don't believe there is any public access from there. Parking is best on Cowell Road off of Madison Street. There is enough space for about two cars at the head of the trail as long as the fire road is not blocked. If you proceed up this trail about 3/4 of a mile there is a large outcrop and a fork in the road. Proceed to the right and follow the road straight. You will pass a marked trail on the left which would lead to Pinnacle Rock. Another trail goes to the left a bit further down but go straight and then the trail starts to climb and go to the left. One of my photos of the rock was taken in October of 1980 and since then a white pine tree has grown over it and the rock may have moved since then. An article was just published in the April 22, 2010 issue of the magazine section "Go" of the Sun Chronicle newspaper detailing some of the history. They also showed a photo (which I don't have proper permission to use just yet) taken in 1900 of a woman standing next to the rock but that rock looks rounder on the top so I'm not sure if it's the same rock or if the top got lopped off. I have to get back there to get a more matched photo to compare to my 1980 photo that shows more of the markings on the rock and the outcrop it's sitting on for comparison. By the current photos it almost looks like the rock has moved since 30 years ago. There are a few carvings on the rock one of which is supposedly the initials of John Bishop, a casualty of WWII.
