Late-Baroque Church of St. Lawrence (Kostel Sv. Vavrince), main Catholic parish church of Dacice, creates together with its older Renaissance belfry a principal landmark of this historic town on South Bohemian - South Moravian borders.
The parish church, located beside the older Renaissance bell tower, was built in the spirit of the fading Baroque style in 1775-1788. The construction was funded by Dacice's provost Jan Neulinger and the local estate owner Jan Bedrich Count of Ostein. The church was built at the site of medieval Romanesque church from 12th century, which was rebuilt in Gothic style during 15th century. The foundation stone of the St. Lawrence was laid at August 20, 1775. The construction, carried out according to the plans of architect Michael Kirchmayer, was finished in 1788. St. Lawrence is spacious 41.5 m long single nave structure with Latin cross ground-plan. From the church's interior are particularly important frescoes of three altars - the main altar of St. Lawrence and two side altars - St. Walburg and Our Lady. Large murals excel by excellent composition, subtle harmony and realistic perspective. The church is also interesting by walled pulpit and an old tin baptistery (dated ca 1500).
