Picturesque so called "Bird's Nest Houses" (Ptací domky), built by Italian railway-workers in the first half of XIXth century, belong among the most visited touristics attractions of a small historic town Úštek in North Bohemia region.
Medieval part of Ústek was built on the long sandstone cliff and this phenomenon gives to this picturesque town special and unmistakable look. After Italian workers, building the railroad the first half of XIXth century, remained here unusal and nowadays historical landmark - so called "Bird's Nest Houses". Houses and especially their penthouses on the walls, located in Kamenná ulice (Stone street), evokes from the southern side huge wooden bird-boxes.
