The life boat was built in 1856 at Williamstown.
The lifeboat house was built in 1861 and relocated to the current site in 1873. The boat is kept on a trolley that rolls down rails from the hose to the river to enable very quick launches in the event of an emergency.

Information was taken from this website (visit link) which also contains images of the boat and house interior.
