The town authorities acquired a new big bell called Michal which due to its size and weight (5040 kg) made the church tower quake. The town authorities therefore decided to build a new bell tower. A stone memorial plate indicates it was begun on the 4th April at the expense of the municipality and finished on 12th November. There is a sundial on the bell tower. The tower itself has a footprint of 10 x 10 m. The gate of sheet metal covering the windows was recently changed for wooden blinds because the sound propagation is better and the bells are less at risk from vibrations.
BELLS:
Jacob (1500 kg): the oldest bell of Lipník. It was acquired in 1464 in honour of the patron saint of the church: St. Jacob. There is the emblem of Lipník and a fourfold relief of Little Calvary on it. The frieze inscription indicates that it was cast by master Jacob.
Michal (5040 kg) is one of Moravia´s biggest bells. The bell carrying a relief of Archangel Michael, the town emblem as well as the emblem of the lord - George Bruntálský of Vrbno – was cast by Zacharias Milner in Olomouc in 1604.
Little Barbara (250 kg) with reliefs of Little Calvary and the Madonna with her Child served as a death knell. It was acquired in 1695 by George Balšánek and was cast by George Reiner in Olomouc
