Jacob Propstra, a Dutch immigrant, opened The Holland Creamery in Vancouver, Washington in 1922. This has since grown to be a regional chain in its own right. His son, George, opened the first Burgerville nearby in 1961. Burgerville is now a subsidiary of privately held The Holland Inc, and has 39 restaurants in Washington and Oregon.
Sadly, despite several visits, I have never really enjoyed the food or any of the restaurants. Bland food and uncaring employees do not make for repeat visits. The only thing worth seeking out is the onion rings.
