A Royal Park on the outskirts of the busy city of Bangkok.

Outside the busy inner Bangkok, and within walking distance of the busy Mo Chit (Chatuchak) bus terminal, you will find this well designed and maintained park (botanical garden). The park covers an area of 0.22 square kilometres (56 acres), and it was created in 1992 as part of the celebrations of the Queen of Thailand's sixtieth birthday.
The park is primarily a showpiece of the Thai natural environment, so you will find a wide variety of flora, but not too much else in the park. There are paths, fountains, signs commemorating the Queen, and topiaries of elephants. Activities such as cooking, sports and so forth are not appropriate to this venue.
The Park is a little too far for most Bangkok residents to visit spontaneously. When I visited the locals had an air of having a 'day out'. Lots of families and photographs. I suspect that not many foreigners visit the Park. I kept hearing 'farang' (the Thai word for westerner) as I passed by. Too reach the Park take the Skytrain or the underground.
