This tank was destroyed on 6 September 1944 by German 88 mm guns during the liberation of the city of Beaune in the French department Cote d'Or.
Several plaques are present (see photograph), from top to bottom translating into:
"In remembrance to the crew for whom this tank became the coffin - remembering all those who gave their lives to liberate Beaune - 6 September 1944"
"The old hands of the 2nd armored regiment ("2e Regt Cuirassiers") to their comrades fallen in combat - 7 September 1944"
"The First French Army under the command of General De Lattre De Tassigny, created in Africa and Italy, landed in the Provence, enlarged by the interior French forces, has liberated Beaune on 8 September 1944, during its glorious march towards the Rhine and the Danube"

visit link) where the pilot Constant Barbe and the loader/radio Gabriel Sanchez are mentioned as having been killed instantly, the commander Barral and the driver Sempèré were badly burnt and were evacuated after combat was over.
