The theatre was built for the production »Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story« in 1994. Buddy was performed until 2001. Afterwards the hall was restored and gives the stage for the musical »The Lion King« (Der König der Löwen) since that time. The Lion King started in December 2001 and is performed eight times a week.

The theatre can be attained by car from the south or by ferry across the Elbe from the Landungsbrücken.
