Surat Thani is a quiet town, half way down the western leg of Thailand. It has the distinction of not only having few tourist attractions itself, but to also be surrounded by major tourist sites. The town therefore tends to be bypassed as people travel to other locales, however, there are a few things worth seeing in and around the town. One of these is a lookout point.
Located 6 kms SE of the city in a national park. Inside the park, along with several other attractions, you will find this lookout point, nestled in the jungle. From here you can look directly towards the centre of Surat Thani town. This is an attractive area, largely free of other tourists. At this site is another waymark (WM8BZ4), a Buddhist Stupa.
The best way to reach this site is to use local transport. Hiring a taxi or tuk tuk in the town is easily done.
