The coordinates for this Waymark were taken on the north bank of Clear Creek (
visit link) as it enters the South Platte River. Clear Creek enjoys a history of tremendous gold finds in the Central City area of Colorado. (
visit link) Colorado's first gold (WM11AD) was found on Clear Creek, but the party was on their way to California for the gold rush, so Colorado's gold rush waited several years.
The South Platte was (and still is) crucial to Colorado's farming and urban community. Often stated, the "Platte was too thick to drink, too thin to plow" since the river's flow is often wide, but shallow. The Platte is a controlled river, with seven dams collecting and regulating its flow. (

This confluence boasts of a natural park and many nearby geocaches! The area is used by bicyclists, families, dog walkers and people still pan for gold (as someone was doing the day I took the pictures).
