"This site was entered on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. It was one of Maryland's first industrial districts, and the mill and general store were the center of a thriving community for decades. In the middle of the 1900s, changes in local trade and crops forced the mill to close; it lay dormant and decaying for decades before finally being renovated and reopened as both a museum and a local craft bazaar."
