Dutch Bros. was founded in 1992 by brothers Dane and Grant Boersma, dairy farmers from Grants Pass, Oregon. The first stand was seen as an opportunity to fill a niche by providing a higher quality product than that sold by chains like Starbucks and Peets, and to provide that almost exclusively in drive-up kiosks. Their original plan was to keep the chain in southern Oregon, but their popularity has led them to become the leading regional chain.
There are currently 153 stands, including nine in California, five in Idaho, four in Washington, two in Arizona and one in Nevada. Which of course leaves 132 for Oregon. The chain has also benefited from a rather eclectic marketing campaign, including a series of humorous stickers, given out free (when available). These include "Dutch Bros. Racing", "Dutch Mafia" and "I see Dutch people".
This particular Kiosk is of the standard design, built in a style suggestive of a traditional Dutch building. but allowing drive-up traffic on both sides. The traditional hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and in addition to coffee, other drinks and (sometimes) pastries are available.
