In the late 17th century, this area of New Jersey along the King's Highway, was settled by Quakers. By the 1730s, it had become known as Prince Town, in honor of Prince William III of Orange and Nassua.

In 1756, Prince Town was selected as the site of the College of New Jersey, making it the fourth institute of higher learning in North America. The archicture in the area and campus reflect the American aristocracy of the period.

The college's first building, Nassua Hall, constructed in 1756, was the largest academic building in the colonies. The gothic style Univeristy Chapel, completed in 1928, is one of the largest university chapels in the world.

In the residences off of Monument Drive (Route 27), you instantly step into another century, surrounded by gothic arches, intricately carved edifices and manicured courtyards. As we walked through the courts, we noticed these storm covers...uniquely Princeton University's.
