This gauge is placed at the sea side of the tidal outlet. The tidal outlet is part of the coastal protection and limits the tidal range behind the dyke to 0.4 m. Outside there is a tidal range of about 3.5m. In the winter the area behind the dyke is flooded up to one meter above sea level for a few times.
