The font and pulpit in the Christchurch Cathedral both feature similar designs by Mountfort carved in local South Island stone, dating from 1881 and 1884.

The font was designed for the Dean of Westminster Abbey, who gave it to this Cathedral in memory of his brother Captain Owen Stanley who reached Akaroa in 1840. It is a white stone font with medallions and four grey stone columns. Designed by Benjamin J. Mountfort in 1881 it features White Castle Hill stone with relief carvings in grey Hoon Hay stone.
The pulpit is a Memorial to commemorate George Augustus Selwyn the first Bishop of New Zealand. The reliefs illustrate scenes from the life of Bishop Selwyn; preaching to the Maoris, welcoming Bishop Harper, forming the constitution for the church of New Zealand, and the consecration of Bishop Patterson. Designed and carried out under the direction of Benjamin J. Mounfort. Relief sculptures prepared by John Roddis, Birmingham, and completed by R. L Clark. The pulpit was first used on All Saint's Day, 1884. It features a carved limestone pulpit with inlaid marble reliefs. Grey Hoon Hay stone columns and base.
