This bandstand was erected as part of the restructuring and restoration of Sheaf Street when it was pedestrianised in May 1983. It is brick built, square, with four pillars erected on an octagonal paved plinth. There is a small clock in a tower at the apex of the roof, which has only shows the correct time twice a day. The centre of the floor of the bandstand is laid out as a chess board in two-tone ceramic tiles.

There are plaques commemorating the Rotary involvement and the opening of the renovated Sheaf Street by Countess Spencer. It was designed by Brian Scoggins, R.I.B.A., Architect and Rotarian.
