The Vestubie Valley is a steep gorge as the river plunges from over 3000 m to the Mediterranean Sea in less than 100 km. Utelle and other towns are perched on the plateau high above the gorge. Utelle is the sundial town of the Vestubie and proudly displays a pair of corner sundials on the major building on the town square. One faces south and has a Savoie crest below. The other faces east and has a Bern bear on the crest below, These are the towns crest's, evocative of the Swiss Alpes, far to the north. The sundials are simple and unadorned. The south dial even lacks numbers on the hour lines.
Sundial Type: Vertical - Wall mounted dial plate
